What's the difference between worsted weight and sport weight yarn?

Someone gave me a bunch of leftover skeins of yarn, some of which have no labels. I'm not very experienced with knitting or crocheting, so I'd like to know how to tell the difference between worsted weight and sport weight yarn.

I love this yarn! I’ve used the white to make a lovely slouch hat. They yarn is soft and light weight. I’m making another hat with blue and grey. If you are looking to use this for babies it is perfect!! I’m an adult and love it for my own items. The yarn is so soft and just the right amount of warmth. Not that sweaty warmth that many acrylic yarns often induce.
